Alicia is a knitwear designer who sees knitting as a way to create something beautiful, and to tell a story with her hands. She lives in a mid-1800s house in Maine, which provides her plenty of renovation project opportunities. She also enjoys reading, kayaking, hiking and other quintessentially Maine things.
The patterns in Alicia's collection have textures, cables, colorwork, and other other beautiful details. Each design’s story is told in the pattern. The patterns also have detailed instructions, charted as well as fully written.
Holt Mitts are cozy fingerless mitts with a bubbly texture that are perfect for the dropping temperatures of fall. They keep your hands warm while still leaving your fingers free to deal with all the touch screens of the world. Or to just turn the pages of your favorite old book.
Mainio would be a great option for these mitts. Lots of great color options to choose from, and the superwash polyamide blend means they'll be easy to care for and durable.
Nightpath is a bottom up sweater with a circular yoke. The design is inspired by the anticipation of spring at the end of winter. The bulky yarn used means the sweater will be done faster than you would have expected.
An alternative to bulky yarn would be to use a yarn like Lettlopi held double. There are lots of fabulous colors to choose from, and the Icelandic wool is great for keeping you warm.
DownEast is a cozy top down sweater with an eye-catching asymmetrical design. The design draws inspiration from late nights in a rainy city. There are two versions of the design: one with a cowl neck that is tunic length, and an updated version with a turtle neck and a shorter hem.
Making it from chunky yarn means it will knit up very quickly.
Scotch Pine is a top down sweater with a circular colorwork yoke. It has a lovely, delicate colorwork design which is also echoed in the cuffs of the sleeves. The pattern has two options for the yoke design.
The design is written for sport-weight yarn which means it's light enough to be worn during the transitional times as the weather is just starting to cool down or warm up.
Tukuwool Sock is a unique Finnish sock yarn spun and dyed in Finland with Finnish Wool and biodegradable polyamide for durability. Despite its name, the yarn is a great option for all kinds of projects, not just socks.
