  • Here’s a bit about Finnished Knits, the home of Finnish and Nordic-style knitting and yarns. I’m Noora, and I’m excited to share the joy of knitting with you. From learning the basics to getting the yarn and needles for your projects, I’ve got you covered.


    I first learned to knit in fifth grade. It wasn’t a great experience, so I didn’t touch knitting needles for a quarter century. At the end of 2019, I decided to try my hand at it again and found that I actually enjoyed it.


    One day while waiting in the car, I decided to film a knitting mnemonic I’d heard and posted it on TikTok. It stuck a chord, and people wanted more. So I’ve started doing that. I’m so excited to see and hear when it clicks for someone and they find a new hobby they enjoy.

To help folks learn how to knit, I wrote a pattern: The Stitch Discovery Scarf. The purpose of this pattern is to teach someone who is just learning how to knit all the basic techniques of knitting. From casting on, knitting, purling, increases, and decreases to binding off, each step includes a link to a video tutorial. I also put together a Learn To Knit Starter Kit, which includes everything needed to make the scarf, as well as a second project.

Being from Finland, I enjoy knitting Finnish and Nordic knitting patterns, especially socks. What I have found frustrating is the availability in the USA of the type of yarn used in many of the patterns: DK or Aran weight wool reinforced to withstand wear. So I decided to solve the problem and started a business to import yarn from the Nordics. I’m just beginning this adventure, but I’m so excited at all the possibilities.
