Just a heads up: Many of the pattern links in Designer Spotlight posts are to Ravelry. I recognize the site isn't accessible to all. To find alternate sources for the designer's patterns I encourage you to check out their Instagram linked at the top of the post.

Designer Spotlight - Cari Jehlik

Cari of @carijehlikartist

Cari is a knit and crochet designer in addition to being an author. This means she is an artist of many formats. She learned to crochet first, at age 10, then knit later in college. In the past few years she has started designing patterns of her own, and she has built a lovely collection of patterns.

One of the great things about Cari’s designs is that most of them have both a knit and a crochet version. If one doesn’t exist yet, it is in the works. You’ll find beanies, cowls, shawls, and various accessories.

Home Alone Hat

Home Alone Hat is a beanie with a pom inspired by the iconic headwear of Kevin McCallister. You know the one. I can just see him at the cash register telling the cashier his mom is in the car. There's also a crochet version.

The pattern is written for a sport weight yarn, but by adjusting your needle size you can easily substitute either Lankava Mainio (DK) or Sulo (Fingering) for your project. The sample is made with red and white, and Chili and Snow would be great for this. In the movie, the hat is more of a gray or beige color. I think Griege would be a great option for that.

Cindy Shlanket

Cindy Shlanket is enormous! It's very big as a shawl, yet not quite large enough to be a blanket, and all around gorgeous. The pattern is stunning yet simple. And if you don't want yours so big? Stop when it's the right size for you.

The written for DK-weight yarn. Lankava Mainio has a great selection of solid colors you can mix and match for this design. Another option is CEWEC Blossom Fade which will give you a multi-color option in one skein.

Two-Step Tunisian Cowl

Two-Step Tunisian Cowl is a Tunisian crochet cowl that allows you to combine colors, yarns, and designs to your heart’s delight. The pattern is written to work with multiple different weights of yarn. It also has ribbing, alternating stripes, colorwork, and mirroring designs that you can mix however you want. And of course, choosing the colors of your choice. Scroll down for options.

Wild Mountain Thyme

Wild Mountain Thyme is a beautiful crescent shaped shawl. It combines a simple two row repeat body with a delicate, lacy border. The design is inspired by the Scottish wilds where wild mountain thyme grows with among the blooming heather.

The design is written for fingering weight yarn, which makes Lankava Sulo a great option with 23 beautiful solid colors to choose from.

Colors for Two-Step Tunisian Cowl

Since the design is written to work with multiple weights of yarn, any of the Lankava wool blend yarns would be great for it: Sulo (fingering), Mainio (DK), Lysti (Aran). They all come in the same 23 base solid colors, and several fantastic multi-colored options.
