Designer Spotlight - Park Williams

Park Williams of @parknknit

Park is not only a knitwear designer, she's also an actor. And that's not really surprising once you get a peek at her bio and the kind of things she enjoys. She's currently based in Chicago which seems like a great place to find inspiration for her designs.

Park wants her patterns to be fun, and to give people permission to create and play. And the fun can be found in the colors and shapes of her designs.

Ghost Whisperer

Ghost Whisperer is a see-through lace-weight whisper of a shirt that feels like wearing a ghost. This is one of Park's most popular patterns: there are 1036 projects for it on Ravelry. It's a fabulous layering piece, and something as simple as changing the color of your yarn can completely change the mood from whimsical to spooky.

Knitorious RBG

Knitorious RBG is a design inspired by Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Created in 2018 I think it's still just as important today. Park hopes that this sweater will endow the wearer with the strength, perseverance, gravitas and integrity we so rightfully associate with The Knitorious RBG. The pattern has both both top-down and bottom-up instructions. And there’s a baby version, too.

Vacation Vest

Vacation Vest is a simple yet versatile vest perfect for layering or wearing on its own. It is knit from the top down, and the edging is worked along the way, so there's no having to come back after you feel like you've finished. You'll be finished before you know it!

Salty Water Sweater

Salty Water Sweater is Park's newest design. It is a raglan sweater knit in an open gauge, and it's meant to be worn after a day of relaxing when you need to look a bit nicer for dinner. It's worked in the round, top-down, in a garter stitch. There's a subtle side seam detail that runs along the body and the sleeves.

Yarn for Knitorious RBG

Lankava Lysti is a wonderful option for this pattern. Durable and easy to care for, which is important since you'll want to wear this sweater ALL. THE. TIME. Salmiakki for the main color, Snow for the collar.
