Designer Spotlight - Ravijenna Knits

Nele of @ravijennaknits lives in the forests of Northern Bavaria in Germany with her spouse and two cats. She finds inspiration all around her: those Bavarian forests, fashion, people she meets, art, architecture, and more. She creates patterns that offer variety in the knitting process, while keeping her designs beautiful and wearable. There are patterns with colorwork, cables, textures, and some with all three!

Her patterns have detailed instructions, charts, and even handy checklists to keep you on track with your progress.

Wavy Companion Shawlette

Wavy Companion Shawlette is an easy-to-knit shawlette with squishy garter, i-cord, and a gentle wavy edge, all worked as you go. Scroll down for more details on this fun accessory.

Fast as FUN Socks

Fast as FUN Socks is a versatile sock pattern that can be worked cuff down or toe up, and is a great opportunity to use up scraps. It uses two strands of fingering-weight yarn held together, which means you could easily also use a single strand of DK-weight yarn.

Each round uses one color, so there is no stranded knitting. When holding two strands together, you have multiple options for colors: use two colors, matching ones held together; use three colors, hold two strands of a single color and a strand each of a second and third color; use four colors, each set of yarns is two different yarns. You can even switch up the colors throughout the sock as you please.

Everyday Companion Shawlette

Everyday Companion Shawlette is a great one skein project that combines garter with a cable border. It is knit from tip to tip, and its slim shape makes it very versatile to wear. The pattern can also be easily adjusted to fit the amount of yarn you have available.

The shawlette is knit with fingering-weight yarn, so Lankava Sulo and Viking Nordlys are great options for this pattern.

Blooming Mandala Sweater

Blooming Mandala Sweater is knit seamlessly top down, and has a circular yoke. The stranded colorwork design reaches beyond the sleeve separation, and is echoed in the hem and cuffs. The top of the yoke uses purl stitches to add texture and interest.

The pattern is used for holding two fingering-weight yarns together, but can also be knit with single strands of DK-weight yarn.  Lankava Sulo is a fantastic option for for fingering-weight yarn. For DK-weight, Lankava Mainio is a great solid color, and Blossom Fade would make a beautiful multi-colored design for the yoke.

Wavy Companion Shawlette Yarn Suggestion

Wavy Companion Shawlette is Nele’s newest pattern. A quick, one-skein project that is perfect for all seasons. The main section of the scarf is a squishy and easy garter stitch pattern. The pattern incorporates an i-cord edge, and the wavy shape brings life to the shawlette. The long and slim shape means this shawlette is very versatile. You can even customize the size of the shawl to the amount of yarn you have available.

The pattern is written for fingering-weight yarn, for which I offer a couple of great options. Lankava Sulo is a fantastic basic wool blend yarn that comes in 23 solid colors. Viking Nordlys is a multi-colored wool blend yarn if you want a more colorful shawlette.

Which of these patterns do you want to cast on first?
