Designer Spotlight - Sara R

Sara of @mycupofknitting is a knitwear designer from Finland who has been creating patterns since 2008. She draws inspiration from all kinds of places, and it mostly hits as she's finally in bed at the end of the day (who relates?).

When scrolling her patterns and Instagram feed, you can see that yellow, pink, and purple are definitely Sara's favorite colors. Her collection has a lot of socks, shawls, and other accessories.

Taimi is a pattern for beautiful lace socks available in three different sizes. The repeat of the pattern is easy to memorize, and it looks great on both variegated and solid yarns. The pattern uses fingering-weight yarn, and Sulo is a perfect match.

Vitamin C is a long, textured cowl that will brighten up your day. It's intended to be wrapped around the neck twice. The pattern calls for holding two yarns together, whcih add up to a DK-weight.

Barleycorn Shawl is a garter stitch shawl with a beautiful edge detail. The design combines the simplicity of knit stitches with the interest of a lacy motif in one garment. It uses a heavy fingering or sport weight yarn, and Tukuwool Sock would be great for this project.

Sammal is a pattern for cozy mittens with a simple yet stunning pattern. Sammal is the Finnish word for moss. The design on these mittens is inspired by the big patches of moss in the forest near Sara's house. The stitch patterns is easy to memorize, there are only knits and purls.

Mainio is a versatile, affordable wool blend yarn that works for all kinds of projects. The Pesto colorway is a rich, deep green that's a perfect moss color.
