Karysha is a knitwear designer based in Dorset, United Kingdom. Like many of us she learned as a child from her mom and godmother. Today she creates beautiful, squishable designs for knitters.
Karysha’s aim is to provide as much value as possible in her patterns. She’ll include different yarn weights or sizes to choose from, as well as tutorials. The goal is for you to enjoy the project and be successful in creating the item!
A New Leaf Beanie
A New Leaf Beanie is an eye-catching design that signifies a new era. Designed in the spring it uses mosaic knitting to achieve the colorwork design. The pattern has options for five different weights of yarn, and includes written, picture, and video tutorials.
A great Aran-weight option for this pattern is Lankava Into: it's fluffy, 100% wool, and comes in some fabulous color options. Another wonderful choice is Novita Aino, which blends baby alpaca and merino wool for an extra soft result. Aino comes in 15 solid colors.
Stick or Twist Beanie
Stick or Twist Beanie is a two-fer pattern for a beanie with a simple ribbing option or a more decorative twist. The pattern has options for seven different yarn weights, as well as instructions for making multi-colored versions or adding a folded brim,
Since there are instructions for multiple different weights in the pattern, there are lots of options to choose from. For DK-weight, there's Lankava Mainio with 23 solid colors, and eight multi-colored options; CEWEC Blossom Fade with 11 long fade colorways; or the new LAINE x Novita DK which has 12 solid colors in 100% wool. For Aran-weight there is Lankava Lysti with 26 solid colors and six multi-colored options; Lankava Into which is available in seven solid colors in 100% wool; or Novita Aino which has an extra fluffy blend of baby alpaca and merino wool in 15 colors. There's even a Bulky option, Lankava Lempi, which is another fluffy 100% wool yarn.
Blooming Stitches Headband
Blooming Stitches Headband is a great stashbuster project and the perfect introduction to stranded knitting. There are no more than two colors per row, and there is no need to catch floats. The design can be made from two to seven different colors, and has charts for six different yarn weights.
This pattern is also written for DK-weight through super chunky weight yarn, so all of the options listed for Stick or Twist will work for this one, too.
The December Hood
The December Hood is a versatile accessory that can be a hood or a cowl to keep you warm as the weather gets cooler. It has an i-cord in the opening so it can be cinched tight. The pattern has video tutorials for every step of the process.
Yarn for The December Hood
The design is written for Aran weight yarn held together with mohair to create a soft, fluffy fabric. For this, you can combine Novita Aino and Novita Edith to get an extra soft hood that you'll never want to take off. Aino is a blend of baby alpaca and merino wool blown into the core of a polyamide mesh. Edith is blend of kid mohair and silk which is light as a feather.
