Kat’s knitting hobby started like many others: she saw a piece, decided she wanted one, and figured she could make it herself. And it only took four years!
Today Kat designs garments and accessories with a “Why the Hell Not" philosophy. In her opinion knitting should be fun, and the garments are intended to be worn. Can't say I disagree.
Transitions sleeves are just what you'll need this time of year. An extra layer of warmth for the cool morning or evening that's easy to remove when the afternoon temperature jumps to 70°F. Or all year in some offices based on my experience. Scroll down for more details.
Acton Socks are simple, a mostly stockinette design with a touch of texture in just the right spot. It is knit top-down and works well with solid as well as multicolored yarns. They are knit with fingering weight yarn. You can make solid colored ones from all the shades of Sulo, or multicolored ones from Viking Nordlys.
Easy A is a sweater designed to take as little thinking as possible while being knit. The pieces are knit in garter stitch, so there is no purling. The back is deliberately longer than the front so you don't have to fuss with matching up the lengths. And you can make it with pockets! The pattern is made with Bulky yarn, which also makes it a fast project.
Scrounger is a cozy shawl that combines garter and a simple lace repeat. It is worked sideways from one point to the other side, and is a great addition to any outfit. It is knit with DK-weight yarn, making Mainio a great choice with its 23 color options.
Transitions sleeves are just the thing this time of year. I should know: A few days ago it was in the 70s, and last night we had a freeze warning. I've also worked in plenty of offices with a fake thermostat on the wall. These would have been just the thing to keep me warm while allowing me to type. Hike them up when needed, scrunch them down when necessary.
Sulo is a fingering-weight wool blend yarn that's a great option for all kinds of projects. There are 23 colors in the collection, so you can make sleeves to match all your outfits.
Another option is Viking Nordlys. Also a fingering-weight wool blend yarn, this one in gorgeous multi-colored options.
