Stitch Discovery Scarf Pattern

One of my favorite things to hear someone say is that my content has helped them learn knitting. I know how awesome that feeling is when you figure out a new skill, and knowing I helped someone achieve that makes my day each time.

My TikTok video has received millions of views and has inspired other videos which have received millions more. My favorite comments are always the ones that say, "I get it now!"

In this spirit, I created the Stitch Discovery Scarf pattern. I wanted to be able to offer something that walked a beginner through every step, offered the opportunity to practice things, and gave them the skills to pick up a variety of other patterns as their next project.

I wrote the pattern to be much more detailed and verbose than a standard pattern since it is aimed at beginners. I have links to TikTok and YouTube tutorials for every step of the process so that you can see how everything is done, from casting on to binding off. Even finishing and blocking. Every abbreviation is defined in the pattern before the abbreviation is used. The pattern even gives you an introduction to reading charts.

You can make the scarf as written in the pattern, or if you want to practice a particular stitch more than the pattern calls for, you can repeat any of the sections as many times as you’d like.

To go along with the pattern, I’ve also curated a Learn to Knit Starter Kit with all the materials you need to get started, including yarn and this pattern.

In this kit, you’ll receive $50 worth of products:

Not only will the kit provide you with everything you need to learn knitting, but it also gives you enough yarn to make a second project. The kit also includes several different kinds of knitting needles so you can figure out which ones work best for you. This particular set uses my favorite, Knitter’s Pride Dreamz. You can always try other brands, but this will get you started with straight needles, double-pointed needles (DPNs), and circular needles.

Once you’ve finished this project, you could challenge yourself to make a pair of socks. Lucky for you, I have written about that, too! Or you can start out with a simpler version by making Banana socks. This design allows you to practice knitting in the round, but you don’t have to worry about a heel.
